COVID-19 Update: March 17, 2020

It is important during this time to get up-to-date, accurate information regarding the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus) and its resulting illness COVID-19. Remember, even though as Naturopathic Doctors we can recommend general immune supportive products, there is currently no medication, vitamin, nutrient, or homeopathic that has been proven to prevent or treat COVID-19. Please refer to my last blog on methods to generally optimize your immune system. But this does not take the place of proper hygiene, hand washing, social distancing, staying home when you are sick for at least 14 days, or any other recommendations made by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).

Even if you are not in a high-risk group for this illness, you can still transmit the virus to those who are high-risk. It is possible to have no symptoms and still transmit the disease. Please follow the instructions from: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/coronavirus-guidelines-america/regarding social distancing released on March 16, 2020.

At this time, Bios Comprehensive Medicine cannot offer testing for COVID-19. So, if you have symptoms of this illness: fever, cough or shortness of breath, please contact a local urgent care to inquire if they offer testing. They can also rule out other illnesses such as Influenza A or B. Because testing is still limited, it will generally not be done unless you have the symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or if you have been to an area with suspected exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. I am still seeing patients for other concerns. If you do not want to come to the office, but you would like to have a follow-up visit, a phone visit can be arranged.

For up-to-date, accurate information, please follow resources from the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html and ADHS (Arizona Department of Health Services) https://www.azdhs.gov/.
